1. Overview

Sermon Scribe AI ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that provides automated, hands-free AI-generated sermon notes by listening to browser audio from sermons, lectures, or Bible studies playing in Chrome tabs.

Your privacy is important. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is never done with your information.

2. What Data Does the Extension Access?

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:

`tabCapture`	Captures audio only from the active tab where a sermon is playing, only after you explicitly click "Start Listening."
`activeTab`	Temporarily accesses the current tab to detect when audio is playing.
`offscreen`	Runs a hidden background page required by Chrome to reliably capture audio.
`tabs`	Reads whether the current tab is playing or paused audio.
`storage`	Saves your preferences (e.g., export format, AI mode) and temporarily stores generated notes before export.
`Host permissions` (`:///*`)	Allows audio capture from any website where sermons may be hosted (YouTube, Vimeo, church streaming platforms, etc.).

3. How Is Your Data Used?

Audio Data

Audio is captured only when you manually click "Start Listening."
By default, audio is processed entirely on your own device (local processing). No audio data leaves your computer.
If you opt into cloud-based AI (explicit consent required), only transcribed text is sent to a cloud AI service — never raw audio.
Audio is never recorded or saved to disk by the Extension. Once processing is complete or you stop the session, the audio stream is discarded.

Generated Sermon Notes

Notes are created from the audio transcription.
Notes remain on your device until you choose to export, copy, or save them.
The Extension does not upload, store, or share your notes anywhere unless you manually export them to a third-party service (e.g., Google Docs, Notion). In that case, that service's own privacy policy applies.
